Admiral Harriman Nelson. Richard Basehart made the character his own. To a lot of people no one else could ever replace Richard Basehart in this role. Numerous rumors persist about why he took the role since it did not really allow him to use his abilities to their full extent. But, if he had not taken the role there would be millions of people that would never have met the acting genius named Richard Basehart.
